Baked Apple Dumpling Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
1 & 3/4 c flour
1/2 tsp of salt
1 Tbsp of sugar (granulated)
1/2 c of butter (unsalted) plus 3 Tbsps
1 eggyolk
3 Tbsps of ice water
Apples
1/4 tsp of cinnamon (ground)
1/2 c of walnuts
1/2 c of packed light-brown sugar
3 Tbsps of preserved raspberries
2 Tbsps of milk (whole)
1 Tbsp of sugar (granulated)
Flour
Instructions:
Combine sugar, flour & sugar in processor then pulse to have them mixed. Add butter then continue processing ’til broken to fine pieces.
Combine eggyolk w/ water enough to add up to 1/4 c liquid, blending well. Sprinkle over flour mixture in blender then pulse ’til pastry begins forming into clumps.
Transfer into bowl then manually pack your dough. Then knead it for 2-3 times. Place into sheet of cling wrap then flatten into a disk. Have it wrapped & refrigerated for 60 mins.
Preheat oven to four hundred degree Fahrenheit.
In processor, you combine walnuts, raisins, cinnamon & 1/4 c light-brown sugar, pulse ’til mixture becomes finely-ground. Have butter melted in skillet then add 1/4 c light-brown sugar & preserved raspberries. Quickly cook about 30 secs over mid-heat ‘ti mixture becomes bubbly. Remove pan away from heat.
Horizontally halve unpeeled apples then have them cored. Arrange them w/ cut-side-down into skillet. Place 6 halved apple around edges then 1 at center. Have the rest of your apples diced then scatter them all over.
You spoon little walnut-raisin mixture carefully into every apple cut, tightly press to compact. Sprinkle rest of filling in between.
Have pastry rolled out into floured surface forming rounds w/ similar size as that of skillet. Ease pastry into apples then have the edges tucked along pan’s sides. Poke many holes using your paring-knife.
Have pastry brushed w/ milk then sprinkle w/ sugar. Put inside heated oven then have pie baked for about 20 mins. Adjust temp to three hundred seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit then bake again for about 25 mins ’til crust becomes golden-browned.
Allow to cook prior to serving.
