Chocolate Cream Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pc of baked pie crust (9 inch)
1 c of sugar (granulated)
1/2 c of flour (all purpose)
6 Tbsps of powdered cocoa (unsweetened)
2 c of milk
1/2 tsp of salt
3 pcs of egg yolks; beaten slightly
1/2 c of butter (or margarine)
2 tsps of vanilla extract
For the Meringue:
4 pcs of egg whites (large)
1/2 tsp of cream-of-tartar
6 Tbsps of sugar (granulated)
Instructions:
Combine cocoa, flour, salt, and sugar inside a saucepan. Add the milk then stir thoroughly; cook above moderate heat while constantly stirring till it boils. Take out from the heat then add one-half of mixture onto beaten yolks; stir thoroughly and add onto the saucepan. Continue to cook then stir above moderate heat till it boils; continue to boil then stir for one min.
Take out from the heat then add vanilla and butter. Let it cool for ten mins. Pour onto the pie crust. Preheat the oven (350 degrees F).
Beat the whites of egg and tartar till foamy. Add the sugar gradually till foamy. Carefully spread above the warm filling and seal edges. Bake for 5-8 mins or till slightly browned. Let it cool and refrigerate till chilled.
